A diverse cross-section of Smithsonian colleagues are engaged in, or are experienced with cultural heritage protection and disaster recovery efforts. The Smithsonian’s capabilities in security and facilities administration, materials conservation, cultural heritage emergency preparedness training, disaster response, and recovery in natural or man-made disasters stretches across the Institution. The Smithsonian is attempting to align our future efforts to create a viable and robust disaster-response capacity. The Smithsonian has participated in emergency preparedness and disaster response and recovery for the protection of cultural heritage worldwide and seeks to provide a critical educational network to share and analyze these interventions and research.
